On the return trip, Grace's body was so energized that she started to come out of the sleep sooner than Esarg expected. She awoke, or tried to wake, and found herself in a deep stupor. She tried to sit up, but couldn't. She put her hands down to balance herself on the bed. When she could not feel the mattress, she realized that she was floating above the bed. At this point, she nearly fell over. Though she was only semi-conscious, Grace knew that something was wrong, and that she needed help. She tried to reach the phone to call for help, but couldn't reach it.

That's when she saw the beings around her bed. She remembered thinking, ‘I need to call 911.' But she couldn't control her arms. Everything around her was so ethereal. She thought she recognized one of them. She tried to speak, to tell him so.  Her mouth wouldn’t open. Her mind was telling her to scream, but she couldn’t. It was at that point that she saw one of the beings reach out toward her. Esarg will-forced her back to sleep. He had not realized how energized she really was. His hand reaching out towards her was the last thing she remembered.

As Mac stood helplessly bound hand and foot, with a shotgun aimed at him, watching his first born son being beaten at the hands of these two men, he nearly choked from the fierceness of the hate and anger welled up inside of him. He struggled hopelessly against the ropes.

He felt for Charlie and flinched with every lick the boy received. He was proud of his son, for he did not grovel, nor did he cry out as he was being beaten. The pain of the lashes was evident by the sound of leather against flesh and the winching of Charlie’s body.

Seeing this, and with being forced to stand helplessly by, Mac vowed in his heart that these men must die for this senseless, needless deed. There was no court in the land which would bring a white man to justice for any act upon a black man, therefore, in his heart, he judged them and their sentence was death. He knew that if they lived after this, he could not or would not have any self-respect left. And he would allow no man to rob him of that.

After the men cut him loose and left, Mac ran to his son and let out a deep moan on seeing how deep the gashes were. He gingerly gathered Charlie’s semi-conscious body in his arms, careful to avoid touching the deepest lashes, and started home with him. So intense were his emotions that he could not feel the weight of his son’s body.

Seeing his daddy carrying Charlie, Joe turned the wagon and pulled to a stop beside him. He jumped down to help put the boy into the wagon, but, Mac told him, “No, son, every man has to carry his own load and this is mine.” He sat on the back of the wagon, holding Charlie in his arms.

Seeing his brother so badly beaten, Joe cried openly. Angrily he told Mac, “Pa, I brought the shotgun and I got some extra shots, we can go get ‘em. We can go get ‘em, pa.” Tears were now streaming down his face as he noted Mac’s stoney-faced stare.

Knowing that his son was crying for both his daddy. “Take the gun on back home son, this is my fight.”

Joe noted the hardness of his face. It was a look he was not used to seeing, and it made him uneasy. He galloped the horses home.

NARRATOR

WARRIOR IN EXILE is the story of an alien officer who has served diligently  in the army of the Supreme Universal Law Giver in his planet systems. High Commander Zarog is one of many super universe personalities who are assigned to travel the spacious Cosmos in the execution of various duties assigned them by Corporate super universe personalities. After many Sars of traveling throughout the various worlds, he met and fell in love with the young woman who becomes his life mate. On one of his assignments, he is trapped by a seductress, seeking his annihilation. In Zarog's world, the penalty for infidelity after you have chosen an eternal spouse, is annihilation of being.

As he is returned to start his combined lifetimes, he is born into a family which gives him the name, Grace. She is destined to live a life of sorrow. He is given special dispensation by Council, which will allow him to go on special missions with Esarg and his former crew when the occasion called for his expertise. Doing this, necessitated the taking of him from his earth being for periods of time. Since the Grace body was only an empty shell without the Zarog essence, a Chuuy was always left to guard it. These are the abductions which caused Grace such agony.

On learning of Zarog’s exile to earth, his arch enemies unite in an effort to trap him on the wheel of retribution. To do this, they would need to attack him as Grace, and cause that vehicle to commit an unforgivable crime of passion, such as murder or suicide. They magnify each of her daily trials, hoping to drive her to desperation. Esarg, his true and loyal friend, diligently struggle to keep from losing his lifelong friend to a permanent exile. Toward this end, he continuously petitions the Council of the Brotherhood for permission to lend aid. However, he is reminded that universal beings are forbidden by law, to directly intervene in earth matters, unless decreed by special counsel.
